Ruegg MFG manufactures the largest selection of 3 point hitch kits for John Deere tractors available anywhere in the United States. Our kits are built to give older and mid-range John Deere garden tractors the attachment capability they were never equipped with from the factory. Each kit is designed and manufactured in Massillon, Ohio, and is engineered specifically for John Deere compatibility so you get a clean, functional installation without fabricating custom parts.

Our hitch kits are available in Category 0 and Category 1 configurations. CAT 0 is the smaller standard and is common on compact garden tractors where lighter implements are the norm. CAT 1 is a heavier-duty standard used with a wider range of implements and is the more common configuration on mid-size utility tractors. CAT 0 vs CAT 1: What Is the Difference?

Category 0 and Category 1 refer to the size and pin specifications of the three-point hitch connection. The two standards are not interchangeable, so it is important to confirm which one your tractor and implements use before ordering.

Category 0 (CAT 0)

CAT 0 is the smaller of the two standards. It uses 5/8-inch hitch pins and is common on compact and sub-compact garden tractors. Most lighter-duty implements such as small tillers, box blades, and garden cultivators are available in CAT 0.

Category 1 (CAT 1)

CAT 1 is the larger standard with 7/8-inch hitch pins. It is more widely used on mid-size garden and utility tractors and opens up compatibility with a broader range of implements. Most new three-point implements sold today are built to CAT 1 specs.

Combo Kits

The Combo 425/445/455 kit is built to work with both CAT 0 and CAT 1 implements. If you run a mix of older and newer implements on the same tractor, the combo kit gives you the flexibility to switch between standards without swapping out the hitch.

Most installations can be completed with basic hand tools in a few hours. No welding is required, and no permanent modifications to the tractor are needed.
