Collection: Drawbars

Drawbars for Tractors

A drawbar is one of the most straightforward ways to expand what your tractor can do. Mounted to the rear of the tractor, a drawbar provides a solid towing connection point for trailers, carts, implements, and other towed equipment. Unlike a three-point hitch, a drawbar connection sits lower and closer to the tractor's rear axle, which keeps the towing load stable and reduces strain on the machine.

Ruegg MFG manufactures drawbars in both Category 0 and Category 1 configurations. CAT 0 drawbars are sized for compact garden tractors running lighter loads. CAT 1 drawbars are built for mid-size utility tractors that need a heavier-duty connection point. All Ruegg drawbars are made in the USA and designed to work with our hitch kit lineup.

Drawbar Options

Category 0 Drawbar — $100.00

Built for compact garden tractors and lighter towing applications. Compatible with CAT 0 hitch systems and sleeve hitch setups on smaller John Deere models.

Category 1 Drawbar — $150.00

The standard choice for mid-size utility tractors with CAT 1 hitch configurations. Provides a solid, reliable connection point for trailers, spreaders, carts, and other towed equipment.

Sleeve Hitch Drawbar - CAT 0 — $135.00

Designed for tractors that use a sleeve hitch system rather than a full three-point hitch. The sleeve hitch drawbar gives CAT 0 sleeve hitch tractors a towing connection point that works with standard towed implements.

Sleeve Hitch Drawbar - CAT 1 — $175.00

The CAT 1 version of the sleeve hitch drawbar for heavier-duty sleeve hitch configurations. Provides a compatible tow point for tractors that have not been upgraded to a full three-point hitch system.

Ruegg Hitch Adapter for Click-N-Go — $380.00

The Click-N-Go adapter allows owners of John Deere tractors equipped with the Click-N-Go attachment system to add a Ruegg hitch to their setup. This opens up compatibility with the full range of three-point hitch implements without removing or replacing the existing front attachment system.

Sleeve Hitch Adapters

Many older John Deere garden tractors came from the factory with a sleeve hitch rather than a three-point hitch system. A sleeve hitch uses a single bar connection to lift and lower rear implements, which limits the variety of attachments that can be used.

A sleeve hitch drawbar or adapter lets you connect towed implements to these tractors without requiring a full hitch conversion. If you want full three-point capability on a sleeve hitch tractor, a Ruegg hitch kit is the better solution. But for basic towing tasks, the sleeve hitch drawbar is a practical, lower-cost option.

Compatibility with Ruegg Hitch Kits

Ruegg drawbars are designed to pair with Ruegg hitch kits for a complete rear attachment system. If you have already installed a Ruegg three-point hitch kit on your John Deere tractor, adding a Category 1 drawbar gives you both a three-point hitch for implements and a tow point for trailed equipment.

Common Use Cases

Towing Trailers & Carts

A drawbar gives you a low, stable hitch point for pulling dump carts, utility trailers, and garden carts behind your tractor. The low connection point reduces rocking and keeps the load balanced during towing.

Towed Implements

Pull-behind spreaders, aerators, rollers, and drag harrows all connect through a drawbar rather than a three-point hitch. A Ruegg drawbar gives you a properly engineered connection point rated for the loads these implements put on the tractor.

Rear Weight Distribution

On lighter tractors, a drawbar-mounted trailer or implement can help offset front-end lift when running heavy three-point attachments. It is a practical option for owners balancing multiple implement types on the same machine.
